Well like the title says i am lookin for an eclipse. I have found several v6 manuals for sale in the 7500 range and am thinkin of going with one if those. But i have read a couple of bad things about them, nothin major, just little things. So my question is would this be a good car that will last me for awhile? Im not lookin for holy crap power, or anything like that, im just lookin for something that gets better gas mileage than my truck. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Andy

well the V6 drains gas like water but to me personally all cars are the same just get the things done when it's time then the car will last you. But a lot of people say that eclipse are bad cars and they will not last which is not true my friends 2000 eclipse GT has 151,000 miles on it and its still running like its new personally I like my eclipse.

I would go with the 4cyl version of the 3g eclipse. I have an 03 and I love my car. Like you said if you're not looking for power that will blow you away then the 4cyl is perfect cause it's the perfect mixture of pretty quick and good gas mileage, I've been takin it easy on mine and gettin almost 27 on mostly city.

The V6's are good as well but maintaining them gets more expensive, or so I've been told. But personally I'd go with the 4cyl cause I love my car and I think you would really enjoy one too. But either way they are all good cars and if you take care of them then they will last you quite a while.

I got 24.75 of closer to city driving (back roads, lots of stop signs / lights) on my last tank in my v6, draining gas like "water" (don't really get the analogy either) might be a stretch. Do miss the 36 my old civic got me though.

Is $7500 your budget? if you're just looking for a practical vehicle for the best guess mileage, there are MUCH better options available for that price, and many more if you have room in your budget

Yea, im lookin at around 7,5, and i have been lookin around, but i want something sporty, not a honda civic hatch or anything like that. And Im currently driving a 99 silverado that gets 18 highway (seeing thats all that i really drive) and from what i have seen both are good on highway mileage. But any more opinions would be greatly appreciated

I have the 4 banger and I love it,but the main ?'s are what is the most important to you; horsepower, newness(newer model),looks, reliability, modding potential, stock longevity, etc. please rate these on importance to you on a scale of 1-10.Will get back to the best bang for your dollar.

the real question is why a Eclipse? i'm thinking because they look bad*** and they get decent gas mileage. if you want a Eclipse with good gas mileage you have to go with the RS/GS with the 2.4L engine in them. i looked for you for a GS Spyder with the 5 speed manual on autotrader.com and found one 26 miles from Pine Co's area code. its a 2001 red convertible with 98,150 miles on it for $6,988. i mean what else could you ask for man? it has a clean carfax.com record and they kept it clean and very stock. its even got the crap stock deck still in it, and the weak stock rims. don't get me wrong it looks like its in good condition, but i absolutely hate stock stereo's, rims, and interiors. car companies didn't start giving real after market stuff for inexpensive cars until after 2005, which sux. anyways here is the link i found for it. hope you consider it, its a nice car my man.

That is a nice ca,but keep in mind that convertables generally weigh more.I used to have a conv. and it sucked because the top didnt meet the windows to form a tight seal.Always a wet seat in the rain or snow.It was an '87 Toyota Celica though but how long do you plan on keeping that car if you decide to purchase?

well then might i suggest he attempt to find a low mileage 1G eclipse GSX very rare to find with low mileage, even more rare to find for sale, even more rare to find for sale without massive mods done to them and a huge price stamped on them, and even more rare to find one near your location, but i say if you do trade whatever piece of crap your driving in and buy the GSX! i know that the internals on those cars are pretty impressive, and that the all wheel drives makes it super quick on take off, and insane to keep up with in the corners in a 2 wheel drive. i hear they are amazing canyon drivers. i heard its almost as fun as driving a bike through the canyons. not quite, but almost.
