So I searched all over and used the search tool here. For schedualed servicing do you have to go to The dealership. (not talking just the Ussual oil change, but the acctual Initial Servicing say after the 7000km mark)

I noticed on one of loonieg3's posts he goes to midas... I assume thats just for the Oil and air filter?

Also. Is it just me and my GTS or are the valves Loud. When its cool out before it warms up it almost sounds like a Diesel the way the Valves are tickin. Once I get'er To operating temp the sound goes away slightly, But when you get out of the car and its running there is a noticeable ticking.

I took it in to one of the dealers (Bank Street Mitsubishi, Ottawa, Ont) After I had made a 9 am appointment... I check in at 0830 always early. The reception guy at the service desk tells me it wont be long. 10 am rolls around and I ask what the hell happened with my appointment and why my car hasnt moved and noone even came out to look at it let alone start it. I wait more. at 1030 The guy who was behind the reception desk for the service center comes up to me and asks to go on a test drive with me...

So I entertain him with a test drive, Lectures me on How it will go away when it hits operating temp.. I told him I have to drive 179km to get to the Service shop/dealer and if it couldnt warm up by then that They can have the car back. He begins trying to tell me about how Oil breaks down and the noise will go away when I change the oil, They are Solid lifters and not hydrolic.. I said Ok. So you hear the sound then... He says yes and it will go away with the Oil change.. Then I told him I had the oil changed 2 days before the appointment. We parked back at the shop/dealership and with the windows up while sitting in the car, He turns and says oh yeah thats a quiet engine you wont need a Valve adjustment for well I dont know exactly when but its some far time with alot of km's..

I tried explaining to them I am not just hearing things that I am a Mechanic ( Although I am not familiar at all with a Mitsu... Yet) quit trying to **** me around and do the **** valve adjusment under the 3 yr / 20 000 km Adjustments Warrenty..

And no.. I got so frustrated as he kept trying to Tell me the breakdown process of Oil like a rehersed skit I had to leave.

Now that the rant is done.. Is it really just a loud engine with Ticky Valves? I know engines have alot of differant sounds. And yes its a heavy car with a small I-4 2.0. but i dont think the Valves are supposed to sound like one of the Tanks I work on.

I think the long rant is scaring people from reading this :P

Anyways, in my opinion the engine in the Lancer is pretty loud <_<
I mean, I've test drove alot of cars before buying the Lancer and the Lancer is mid-high for all of the engine noise I've heard for a sedan. It's slightly quieter than the first car I drove, the Tundra. But that's a V8

Nah it is a noisy engine. I wish the car had better sound proofing against the firewall & everywhere else. It would prob be really quiet then.

Of course the car would weigh a bit more...oink oink

I second that. My warm up is loud and the car revs at 1.5K for a good minute or two (in warm weather, mind you), but after 10-30 seconds, the engine calms down and the RPMs steadily decrease.

It's a loud engine... but no worries, the wind noise should cancel that out :bwekk:

Heavy it would be  probably 50lbs more or so to carry.

I'll third that ;)
