i had a topic a few days ago where my car was stuck in 1st gear and wouldn't upshift. i sent it to a reliable transmission shop and they say that the transmission is bad. the guy can't even get it to manually shift out of 1st gear. the price for a new transmission, labor, etc is about 3 grand and i only paid 2500 for the car. the car also has an engine seal leak and has 122000 miles so i'm not really looking to put that kind of money into it. anybody got any suggestions that would allow me to at least recoup a little bit of my money?

well unlike older transmission with a modulator valve and detent cable , yu cant really get these transmission to "shift out" . The valve body is way diffrent than that of non electronic valve bodies. This is teh reason that when yu are per say driving in 1st , under medium load , and shift to second , it takes like a second or two before it actually shifts to second , because the computer has to get signal frum the neutral safety switch that it is in second , then send current to the 1-2 shift solenoid to shift to second , if the RPM per engine load is correct range for shifting speed.

Im pretty sure yu should be able to find a good condition salvaged for really cheap in a FWD 3000GT or Diamante before it shifted to teh F4A51 Transmission. As i know of new transmission $USD is about 1000-1200 depending teh sites yu look at , its actually not that complicated to take off , so him taking almost 2 grand to take it off i think is outrageous

To be honest , he must think yur really needy, look around online , im sure yu can find a reman that almost matches that. I say 500 tops and he is taking it off LoL. Its good that he wants to 90 day it but some people say that but when chips come down to it yu never kno if they will back it up. I say 500 bucks is more than enough for a 100,000 mile tranny.
