QUOTE(pwee05 @ Jun 3 2008, 12:07 PM)
with your monitoring equipment you are in great shape

you can increase your boost like eric said just keep an eye on your knock but once you get to the higher RPM you are still going to drop off in boost.  That turbo is tiny, it looks like the smaller stock turbo from the 1g auto like militaryman said. it has 12 fins and doesn't have the 14b style compressor housing so that's why im guessing its the smaller one.

if you were thinking about a turbo upgrade it would be a good time to think harder about it.  you have a strong engine, good engine management, good fuel, good tuning, but your turbo can't keep up because it is just too small.  If you are looking for a nice power increase but don't want to get too nuts, keep an eye out for a slightly used big 16g or evo III.  you will be glad you did

Just by luck my friend has an extra TD05.

Where can I find the DP flange for that?
Any other Misc Parts that will be different from the one I have?

I can and eventually will, this is all base tuning to make sure everything is working properly.

Its best to know which turbo it is because some TD05's have a different flange if I remember correctly.

Out of curiosity, does your car have VVT of some sort?

Yes SVT's do. But, regular focus do not. Ours is controlled electronically by the ECU. It has been known to cause serious problems with FI. It will add timing when really it shouldn't be. That part has been deactivated via tune.

As far as what turbo I have.

Best I can do to describe it is on the compressor housing needs a special 2 bolt flange, unlike my TE04H. It has 12 fins, exhaust side has 4 bolt DP with a diagonal/polygon flange and says TD05H.

Also the flange that bolts to my header is different so what does that mean?

Does the TD05H flow more air? It looks as if I'd max out this one as well, just like the TE04H.

I'm almost deciding not to switch it?

if you just look at the compressor housing you can not tell it between any of the TD05H series. the only way is the compressor wheel.

actually you can read the part number. the two numbers in black at the end of the number will tell you what it is and if my memory is right the number:

49178 - 01030 is the 14b. The wheel is also different. 16g's have offset fin heights

However, there is another important number to look for. in the same view you are looking at the turbo from your picture look at the turbine housing. there should be numbers cast here also. if you see the number "070" than you have the larger turbine housing and can flow the same out of the turbine side as the 16g's

i have a t25 turbo set to 15 psi, i know the t28 holds up to 25-28 psi with forged pistons, a strong crankshaft and a heck of a strong connecting rods. If you plan to set more psi you need to have a really strong cyl head to hold more boost
