My experience:
1. maps are a couple of years old.
2. GPS positioning is off by a few hundred feet.
3. display is nice.
4. rerouting takes longer then my friend's Nuvi.
My advice you can do better aftermarket.

1.
Really? Mine was quite updated. Especially since the area I'm in is getting a overhaul of new roads and such.
2.
That happens to me occasionally. Otherwise on bigger roads and places where you can get more satellite reception, it's fairly accurate. (I get about 7 satellites around here)
3. Agreed
4. Yeah, agreed as well, but that's a different story where the data is coming from.
Navi system has a DVD Player, though you have to be moving slower than 5mph or stopped.
Easier to navigate music selection, bunch of other goodies that relate to car's performance,
automated servicing reminder,
easier way of setting personalized usage of car's equipments,
etc etc
In short, if you really need a constantly updated GPS and having it to be more accurate, you might want a aftermarket like psych says.
But if you want to use any other functions like the above, you can get the navi.
I personally like the mitsu navi itself since it's completely integrated into the car's electronic system.
