Before I took the belt off, it was not TDC. Only on the Crank pulley.
The marks on the cam sprocket were as follow (using a clock as a mark) Left sprocket was lined up on 2:00 o'clock Right sprocket was lines up on 1:00
I didn't mark the belt with the marks.
As EMC 3000gt suggested, I first marked where the cam sprockets were positioned, and the marked the crank pulley to begin the rotation to the right (4 times), and then reverse. Each time the marks were positioned from where I started.
I went on an installed everything (new belt, tensioner, water pump, and the accessory belts)
I also changed the spark plugs, and wire, since I knew they would need to be done. Since I already had to move a few things, i figure this will be the best time to do it.
So, here's the result ( I know my mentor EMC 3000gt is going to be dissapointed)
When I crank the car, it begins to sputter, as if sparks or sync is off somewhere. It will not turn over. I checked, and re-checked the plugs and wires, and it appears to be making good contact.
I guess the timing was not set correctly, or I have missed a cable/tube/connector, or some other thing.
I do have a question. This car is equiped with Distibutor cap (I don't think the DOHC has that). I didn't pay attention to where I disconntedt the other end of the distributor cap. Looking at it closely, it looked like it connects to the top maniford cover.
So, I guess I will it towed to the dealership, and go ahead and bent over and take it.
Unfortunetly I can't spend any more time troubleshooting the problem, since I need this car back for my everyday commute.
I appreciate everyone's input, specially EMC 3000gt.
I will update and let you know what the dealer finds out.
