Well, I decided to go ahead and give this a try as well. Camera isn't the greatest, but you can see it went pretty **** well :P First time actually painting a car, but I have painted other things.

If you're still unsure how to go about doing it, I'll describe my steps.

First, tape off around the area you want to paint and cover your entire front of the car, overspray sucks. I started by sanding down the car areas I wanted to paint with 400 grit. Then cleaned it with a damp rag (just water), let it dry and put one layer of car primer. Waited about 30 minutes for the primer, then put 1 heavy coat and 2 light coats of black car paint and waited about 15 min. in between each coat. Then I just let it dry overnight and it was good to go. I actually took it through some rain the next day, and it was perfectly fine, the car paint is made to be durable and last.

As for the chrome accent, I did 2 primer coats, 1 heavy paint coat and one light paint coat. Also looks great.

And click HERE to learn how to take out the crome piece. I broke the 4 clips too, but it doesn't really matter.

I've seen one guy in Wood Dale area driving a grey GTS with offwhite/light grey painted area between the grills. It looked different but fine. Kind of eyecatching.

Ya know I was wondering the same thing. I wanted to paint my silver but I just havnt' gotten around to it yet. Black on Black kinda defeats the purpose
