The GT is the equivilent of the ES.
The GTS is the same in the US.

*FYI: The CVT is a transmission type. It stands for Continuously Variable Transmission and provides a smooth ride without shift-shock and gets somewhat better mileage than most automatics.*

The GTS has a sport tuned suspension, larger brakes, and a slightly wider rear sway bar, so it provides a smoother ride. It also comes with the body kit (front bumper add ons, side skirts, and rear spoiler), 18" rims, and racing style bucket seats.

The GT (or ES) has standard suspension, all disc brakes, no body kit, 16" rims, and regular economy seats.

If you are just looking for something to get you from point A to point B, then go for the ES. If you want to look good while getting there, the GTS is the way to go.

You GTS owners need to get a life
If you're short on cash go with the ES, its the same car without all the frills. Pretty much same handling and the same features. When you do get the cash you can upgrade on your own. They suspension is nothing real special and the rims you would probably upgrade anyway.
I've driven both and went with the ES(GT), it was just more cost friendly for 15K
