This Sat. I am going to get tints on my 2008 Silver Mitsubishi Lancer DE. I am going to get the Lumar tints but I was thinking of either getting 30% or 35% all around but not sure which one. I am not sure because of the black interior. I am not sure yet if i am going to get the windshield done, if i do get the windshield done i am probalby goingto get a visor also...

So can I get your opinions and/or pics? Oh and also I have been seeing people saying that if you tint the windows you will need to get the protector thing. Is that true for all of the 2008 models or certain ones?

Well i have 35% and i like it but i think i could have gone darker.

Moleskin is what you're talking about and i dont have it, it tries to protect your tint but can sometimes fail for people. I have scratches but i don't notice them anymore and everyone that gets in my car doesn't either. If you get a big scratch make sure that the tint shop can replace for free.

Moleskin isn't a permanent fix. I installed mine back in April and even today, I still get the glue residue on my windows.

And I still haven't gotten my tints done yet!

moleskin didn't work for me at all. there are 2 rubbers on the inside of the door which push against the window - got moleskin put on both and no luck. the guy doing the tinting cut the bottom one off which worked fine for a while, but after a week it started scratching, so now i have had to have both removed - looks a bit odd if u scrutinize it 'cause it leaves about a 3mm gap - but u wont notice it unless some-one points it out to you. the dealer i bought the car from says that this is a common problem with all mitsubishi's, even the outlander (suv - don't know what u call it in the USA).

i also have a silver lancer - got 35% on the side and back windows which i am pretty happy with - will put a pic on for you tomorrow.

It's not a gamble... it's just not very durable. I made the mistake of applying the moleskin tightly against the weather stripping, thus making the moleskin slightly thinner.

Tints are becoming less and less appealing to me. It's bad enough the car is super sexy on it's own, but with tints... it just gives people more reason to go look inside my car.

Its all up to you, do you want to spend the extra $$ or get the tint and have an ice look with scratches only visible from the inside?

IMHO i would not get them as i already have tint without moleskin and have no serious problems, its scratched but its not a big deal unless its some OCD thing or something.

Remember when you get your tint on your car do NOT roll down the windows for a week. I gave it 2 to be safe.

Best to get done in the winter or fall when it isn't hot out, but for ppl in hot places like cali or FL, its a SOL. But keep ac on or you are going to be sweating bullets.

ok so i think i am going to get the 30% all around with out getting the windshield tinted and not gonna get the mole skin. if it does happen then i will get the tint re-done, since it is lifetime warranty anyways. i will post pics when it is done tomorrow =D

Here's a shot of mine with 35% in the front and 15% in the back windows.

(IMG:http://lh4.ggpht.com/trancosrt/SEPZJfpfNnI/AAAAAAAAA9E/eG4XmR5h3sU/s144/IMG_0429.jpg)

I had them installed for a week now and while there're no scratches, I'll putting in Moleskin tomorrow (even though I have lifetime warranty AND gave it 3 days to dry as recommended by the shop).

Is it possible to make the pic bigger, looks like its just a thumbnail pic.

Anyways the shop i went to said a week, because they know what they are talking about and if any sooner you risk the window pulling the tint down or making creases in it.

3 days seems WAY too soon to start to roll windows down, but be cautious when doing so, so early prior to getting your car tinted.

looks good, you need a spoiler, and some rims to finish off the look.

I actually like the rims. Spoiler wise, I agree, but I don't like any of the ones in the market, so I'll hold off on it. I want something short (maybe rising an inch off the trunk) and small (maybe 2-3 inches wide).

30% is the best tint in my opinion. It blocks out enough sunlight so you can't see in all too well, but still leaves you with enough visibility so you can still parallel park without rolling down your windows.
