Hey.

I recently took my car to have a new alarm system fitted, everything was fine and well when the car went into the garage.
The guy had my car for a week and just yesterday he rang me to tell me everything had been done. Only when i started the car it started heavily misfiring spluttering etc. The guy told me he noticed this and thought it to be just a blocked fuel injector. So i took my car to a friend, who is a mechanic and he noticed that it was only firing on 3 cylinders.

Could it be a failed ecu? where the guy at the car alarm garage has shorted it or something.

Any help is greatly appreciated as i am gutted that my baby has come back poorly through no fault of my own!!!

Its a 94 twin turbo MK2

Thanks

Carl.

I think its just 3, 6 and 1 that arent firing. There doesnt seem to be any order that i can remember.

Just another quick question, the guy from the garage that has buggered my car ran a diagnostics test and when he showed me it said fuel injector. Is there any way he could rig the machine to basically lie?? And could it be possible that this is the problem with 3!!! cylinders not firing?

I don't have any TT injectors laying around otherwise I'd send you them.

Check the connections on top of each injector a plug may have come loose. (has happened to me) Also check the coil pack. You could have a bad coil.

I have been told the coils are all ok. I'll check the injector plugs.

Thanks again.

I had one plug work its way off one injector and it idled lower, and rough. And it stuttered on acceleration.

It really sounds like they fried your ECU when they installed your alarm.

You may just want to to get on 3si.org and ask the same question. within an hour you should have three different persons responses.

Hey thanks everyone for your help, just thought i'd update on the situation. After all my worrying and checks of the engine bay. The problem was found, a loose plug. The one that plugs into the side of the intercooler part. And that was it, amazing how that one little plug made my car sound like and go as fast as a ride on lawnmower!!! lol.
