Hey, I was just wondering if its possible for the dealership to void your warranty because you used a thicker oil than the recommended brand. I switched to thicker oil and then had to bring my car in because I was having a starter issue, and they have decided to void my warranty because of the oil I used. What the hell is that???!!!!???

to void a warranty, the dealer has to prove that the modification you made is what cause the problem.

like if you put new rims on your car, they cant void your warranty for a cracked piston

that's some bs. what does the oil have to do with the starter. you'd think a thicker oil would be better for the life of your motor

maybe they are voiding the warranty because the heavier oil makes it harder to start the engine in cold weather. it puts more starin on the starter. that's really the only defense they have.

The only problem with my father coming into the picture is that he is in Croatia, I live in Canada pretty much on my own right now, as well as just breaking up with my boyfriend. BUT if YOU would like to come and help me out I would have no objections ;)

lol. You never know it could be worth it....... ;)

I spoke to another dealership, they basically told me that the guy who owns the place where I got my car is a "backwoods country inbred con artist: those were the words straight from another dealership owners mouth. He is going to try and help me out with the dealership that I purchased my car from. He told me that paying cash was actually a disadvantage in this case, why I dont understand but thats ok. Hopefully everything will get worked out..... :) Optimism not pessimism right?!?!?

I had the same prob with my warranty being voided, granted im a guy and plus it was a crappy week for me but i didnt take any from them, most dealerships are all the same when it comes to that. I think the male figure would be helpful, but the female "convincing" usually works too (not that I know personally) Anyways good luck...lol Jersey is closer but still a drive...

Thanks for the advice. I am not really the type of girl to "pimp" myself out there, or wear a shorter skirt and undo a couple more buttons on my blouse but I thinking I might have to try that route soon. It usually works to get out of speeding tickets might as well try it with this too eh.

Might have to walk in there in the shortest skirt, and start with the jumbo tears just to see what they do.......... ;)

Alright so I walked in this morning in a SHORT business style skirt, the heels the whole works..... as soon as he started freaking out on me again about changing the freakin oil (gimme a break) I let the jumbo tears start falling and he caved. It also helps that there was a potential buyer watching him and I.

LOL

He reinstated my warranty and I dont think I will be having ANY more problems with him!
