I have had my 01 spyder for three weeks now, problem free and I love it!

Last night the service engine soon light came on. The car still drives perfectly. I was wondering what are the circumstances for this light coming on? It was serviced before I picked it up, and the oil is topped up and a good colour. I'm guessing that I should take it to a garage and get some ECU codes checked out?

Also, I noticed last night that the air-con light flashes from green to orange when the fan is in either of the windscreen positions. I have never noticed this before, and everything functions as normal, is this normal?

Electrical gremlins really get me worried!

Thanks in advance.

John

OBD-II Scanner to find out what code you're throwing.

The A/C light flashing means this is something is malfunctioning with he A/C. Mine does this when its raining really hard and go thru standing water. ive noticed i just need to turn the car off then back on and it starts to work like normal again.... Something new that happeded this past weekend was when i was merging onto highway i punched the gas had the RPMS at about 5k and my A/C cut out and the light started blinking... Anyone know why that would happen?

Check your accessory belt and tensioner. Probably slippage on the compressor.

I was travelling through some pretty bad weather at the time that my AC light was flashing, all seems fine now. I just couldn’t find any mention of it in the manual!

Apologies for my apparent stupidity, but this OBD-II sensor, it's a method of reading codes from the ECU? I have disconnected the battery for 15 mins and the Service Engine Soon light comes strait back on.

I have only been in the US for a few weeks, should most garages be equipped to do OBD-II, or is it specific to certain types. Anyone know where I can get this done in the North East VA / DC area?

I know there have been a lot of discussions regarding the timing belt change at 60K, I can find no record of mine being done in the book or receipts and I’m at 80K. Can anyone recommend anywhere in the areas mentioned above where I can get this done?

OK, I got my OBD codes read last night, it came back as oxygen sensor. the shop that I got it done at want $250 to change it, but it might not be the cause of the problem!

Does the code indicate there is a problem with the readings from the sensor or that the sensor itself is faulty?

My questions are:

Is there only one oxygen sensor?
Where is it?
Is it easily changed at home (reasonably good at getting my hands dirty)?

there are more than one O2 sensors on your car. since you have a GT i can;t be sure to tell you how many.

as far as your AC problem is, its just a malfunction. probably some kind of electrical gremlin as you said. you may want to bring it into a electrical specific shop to figure whats going on. that is if you really care or not whats wrong with your AC. also why would you have the AC on while its on the defrost position? that kind of defeats the purpose.

if its just acting weird without the AC on i would check the temp of the air coming out of your defrost vents. if its still hot all the time i wouldn't worry too much about it!
