so I got this old piece of **** car right now cuz im saving up for a 99 gsx (crossing fingers and hoping really fricking hard) any way... I just replace the alternator this weekend and when I took off the serpentine I noticed that the was really dam old... I have no idea how long they are suppose to last and I was wondering what kinda dam would it cause if it broke when running?

Others can tell you what will happen if you have it break on ya....but I think that they are only supposed to last maybe 60K?
If you have the ability to change that belt....do it. You'll save yourself alot of grief!
They are not expensive...so if you can swap it out ASAP!

uh oh... mines at 180xxx :( better get on that. so.... what does happen when they break? haven't gotten a straight answer on that yet.

I don't really know. Best bet is to pop that question in the correct forum under the car that you drive & you'll get answers galore.

What ever is driven by that belt will stop working.
