Hey guys, im new here but i've been looking into buy a 2g eclipse for awhile. Anyways ive found a 98 i really like but the guy said the only problem with it is that the battery dies when it sits. I asked him if i got a replacement battey would that solve the problem but he isn't sure. Do you think a new battery would be the only solution? Thanks.

yes. its should. but before you get a new battery bring yours to auto zone or napa or whatever you got around there and ask them to check it they just bring out a little gizmo and they will tell you if your battery retains a charge. if it does retain a charge it means you got a short. (is that how you spell that? it looks way wrong... anyway) if you have a short first check all your connections starting at the battery and working your way through. gl

ahh ok, cool, thanks a lot man. yea he just replied to me saying it might be the power cap robbing voltage from it and the cap may need a charge. personally i hve no idea what that means but i think im gonna go do what you've reccomended.

yeah if you check your batt and it holds a charge make sure all your lights turn off when they are suppose to like the ones in the trunk and the one under the hood if there is one or the one in the ash trey i can't remember where there are all lights but those little ones sometimes get rewired backwards on accident and its suck a batt dry.

usually when cars die when they're running it's a problem with the alternator because it won't be charging the battery up while the car's on. They both go hand in hand. Your best bet is to go to pepboys or strauss or any place like that and have them check the voltage on the alternator and the battery and take it from there. I'm not saying the problem is ith the alternator but it's definitely something you should look into checking up on while you're checking the battery.

The battery might have been low on water.

^^^ I didn't know they still made that type.

I suspect a bad battery. It might just not be good anymore.
