Is it a plug and play interface ? I have heard of the INVECS similater and Ralliart piggy back/plug and play units that interface with the ECU. They plug inline , the factory wire harness plugs into it and the wire harness from the module plugs into the ECU. Pending on ECU placement it usually is mounted no more than a foot away frum the ECU.

Never saw it myself but I was told my Shogun 3.2 DID warrier, with an automatic box, has one fitted to boost the power output to over 180bhp.

Does use more fuel because the idea of the new engine management unit is to add extra fuel to raise the 3D maps of the power curves, after all it is the same stock engine rated at less than 160bhp.

Based on my 4 years ownership of a another Shogun, which had a manual gear box, the Rallitronic unit is a nice piece of kit whenever I take the car to Europe. The increased output doesn't push up the top speed much but the car seems happy if the cruise control is set to 100mph in German autobahns.

I take it being a Mitsubishi approved performance enhancement kit the increased power should be within the safety margin of the engine design. Done 17k miles on it and no complaint. Lose about 1.5 mpg for the added performance I would say so economy drivers are better stick with a manual box without it..

It all depend on teh year . Older ones had a "piggy back" inline unit and then the later units just incorporated the complete Ralliart ecu setup . My Triton Plus 3.5 originally had SOCH 24 heads but i swapped for the DOCH 24 MI VEC heads frum a 96 GTO because they are the same as the RZ Pajero's with DOCH heads , but i needed the older ECU and saw they had piggy back units but decided just to remap my Ralliart unit that came factory with the truck. Its a complete stand alone unit. Its hard to say 96.5 is when they started using stand alone ECU's . The Rallitronic is similar to INVECS with teh exception is that it also enhances the engine performance as INVECS does not. It makes shifting alot quicker as with INVECS and learnable shift points as INVECS , as with easy throttle tip in, but the Ralliart Unit used on DiD and GDI units enhance passing performance and upper end performance as well as lower end. Even holding grears for less upshifting or downshifting to early into lower gears.
