Drives: 1998 Mitsubishi Carisma 1.8 GLS GDI



Hi i have a 1998 Carisma which has failed a mot on 6 things hope its ok post in here about it as not sure failed on rear bushes front antiroll bar linkage front bushes front brake disc snapped in half and needs new brake pipes now the brake pipes not sure where to get them made as they ask the length of the car throught they would have all that info in the shop can any one help me with this please ?

On the bright side you passed the emissions! I had surface rust on my brake pipes too at the back where they go up over the suspension behind the plastic shield. If like mine its just surface rust just sand it off and paint them. Then spray a thin layer of waxoil or similar and the problem is solved. If they are seriously rusted you should replace the rusted sections, you want the car to stop! Any local garage can do this.

The disk is an easy fix just unbolt it and put on a new to you one, you might be able to get one from a scrapyard. You'll get one from any decent motor factor pretty cheap though you'll need to buy a pair. In the longterm this is probably the most economical option and obviously the safest.

With so many bushes gone you can't be slowing down for speed bumps.
