the only bolt on connection on ur exhaust should be from the collector to the cat. but as far as the cat to the rest of the exhaust it is all welded.

how did you came to that idea that your exhaust and engine is hotter then the normal ???? did you stick your hand anywhere near it and guess it is hotter??? or you have a temp meter to tell you ????

if it did blow up like a bomb...... don't worry about it

yes, there are bolts there but 9 times out of 10 they are rusted so tight that you will end up stripping them and have to cut the whole exhaust apart to get it off.

the reason I said it will probably leak is if you actually do get the bolts to turn on the stock cat and you install a 2.5" or 3" catback exhaust the flanges for the larger pipe will be larger than your stock 2.125" flange. however, most places that make a catback exhaust use the stock flange size and then "step up" to the larger pipe downstream.

Its a serious question, Its not common for the NA cars to run lean but if something is screwed up real bad it is possible. I'd see if you could get a Pyrometer in the exhaust manifold and see what the temps are.
