Ive donr it many times , romoving the starter , then the dust cover and removing the TQ converter bolts (be sure to rotate the engine clockwise when turning the crank by hand to remove the TQ Converter bolts ) Most times ive done them , by removing the strut to spindle bolts and the outer tie rods usually give enough clearance to pop the inner part of the cv shaft out of the transmission. But its also just as easy to remove the lowere ball retainers and remove the brake caliper frum the spindle and tie it to the strut spring. And remove the whole spindle and cv shaft. On the left side(facing front the car) the retainer bolts for the cv intermediat shaft to the engine block bracket is not that bad. taking out the air cleaner and piping and AFM and unplugging the transmission electrical connectors and the shift cable, then the transmission lines( if yu have ACTIVE-ESC or INVECS which may not be likely, yu will need to remove the compressor unit frum the transmission after removing the air cleanerand suspend it by a wire or cable.). It is always good to drain the tranny fluid thru the drain plug in the pan so less chance for a fluid mess will happen. Ive always used an engine hoiste , its really easy , there are bolt areas on teh tranny that yu can bolt a chain and with the engine hoiste yu can just lower the tranny down after unbloting it frum teh engine with ease. Its also great to use over a jack especially when putting back up , because its sturdier , and it makes alinging teh dowls very easy and give proper height when starting housing bolts and frame mount. When putting it up always make sure that teh TQ convertor is all the way in , always push in and spin it while pushing before putting on the tranny to ensure its all teh way in, if its not when yu boly it up it will wedge against the inner pump housing and break the transmission fluid pump , Ive always done them in 2 , 3 hours no more

Mitsubishi or a synthetic type like Mecron V or sumthin higher than Dex III , Dex 3 actually is a little thinner than Mitsubishi AF8 that we use and see that if yu use regular DEX III and do not perform regular transmissions services it will deteriate yur tranny quickly .So like Chain rattle says use Mitsubishi approved fluid or Mecron V or higher or synthetic, if the TQ converter is empty it will take about that much , but the TQ converter , it will most likelly come with the used tranny and it will not be empty, if yu want to empty it , the day before installing the tranny take a bucket and flip the TQ convertor side ways where the opening is facing down , if yu can get a way to have teh opening all the way down will be best , let is sit that way in a closed area over night and it will drain the remaining fluid out. The day of teh install yu can take a quart of tranny fluid and slowlly pour into the TQ before butting it on the tranny before instalation so it isnt totally dry. The TQ by itself takes about 3.5 QT when its full and the rest between the tranny and cooler lines.
