What color should i paint my valve cover? i have a Black 2003 Eclipse Spyder GTS Convertible. i changed all the hoses to blue silicone, i added some blue wire conduct, and im gonna be adding a blue steel braided radiator hose, now i just need to paint the valve cover.

either go with blue or black, and if there is any possibility to polish the valve cover instead, i say polish it as much as you can and give it a highly polished brushed aluminum look instead of a color. i mean if you could find a place to chrome dip it you can always go that route.

I agree with bullet_bike: polished. With blue silicone, it'll look great.

oh yeah i forgot that SC does chrome dipping ask him about your valve cover and exhaust heat shield. although if you don't live any where near him i would probably find a local place to have it done. i don't think anyone has 5 days (2 days shipping 1 day dip 2 days shipping back) to have their valve cover off to get that done.

WAY more than 1 day dip, please don't try to quote our procedures.

Most clients send us "spare" parts to have refinished and then swap out the original part they have on their car with the one we re-worked, giving them NO downtime. Chroming/Polishing is roughly 4 weeks. We do MUTLIPLE orders and there is more than just a "dip" stage. Every part that is to be chromed, (which is a 3 stage process at various amounts of time per stage), must be completely polished PRIOR to those stages.

sorry man i didn't know what your procedure was, i have never had anything chrome dipped. i just heard from my brother in law that there are places that can do it in one day. i'm sure its a process for non heat applied parts, but he did do auto body work for 15 years i'm sure he does know a thing or two about chrome dipping.

hey unforgiven, SC has a unfair advantage over all the other members. he runs a body mod shop if his car didn't look that nice i think some members would be asking him how come it looks so plain LOL!

lol true, my brother works for a auto distributing company called world pac, he can get my car parts for cheap, like the rotors, brakes, intake, probably so many other parts that i can put on my car.

Give me a name and number of a place that can do this in a day. It's physically impossible.

Then contact him, find out which places those are, and let me know. I need to see this with my own eyes.

Besides, if that's REALLY true and the quality is there, maybe I will outsource this work effective immediately.

There are alot of places that will dip and polish in 1-2 days. The dip is, however, very thin and almost worthless. The first time you put a screwdriver, socket, or pair of pliers to it, it will scratch right through.

see i knew there were places, however i didn't know the quality of the dip was that crappy. thanks Nick

also i found a decent site that explains polishing aluminum really well. here is the link.
http://www.finishing.com/109/17.shtml
you might want to check it out, its really informative and can help you to make your decision. personally i think this would be the way to go not chrome dipping it. i'm sure its the best route considering the heating temperatures of your valve cover and exhaust heat shield. (won't crack or peel due to heat wear)

If you're asking because you're thinking about High-Temp paint, don't do it. Powdercoat, polish, chrome - or don't do it at all. Don't half **** it.
