RULE #1: BE CAREFUL WITH WHAT YOU DO! IT'S BETTER TO SPEND MORE TIME AND GET IT RIGHT THAN TO BE QUICK AND HAVE REGRETS!
RULE #2: Read rule #1!
Credit goes to Advanced Automotive Concepts for their instructional video on the Oracle brand Halo kit installation. You can view it
HERE. I highly advise that you watch the video if you really do consider doing this because there may be some things that I may have missed. These guys are professionals and know what they are doing. I wrote up this guide from what I could remember when I first watched the video :) My write-up is quick and painless... like ripping off a band-aid on a hairy arm.
1.) Remove the ENTIRE headlight housing from the car.
2.) Preheat oven to 250°F.
(I'm not joking)*Use a gas/electric convection oven. Do not go any hotter than 250°F, you don't want the housing to melt or warp.*
3.) Insert headlight housing and bake for 20 minutes.
(Still not joking)*The housings are sealed shut with a special glue. Baking the housing softens the glue enough for you to open it up.*
(I told you I wasn't joking)4.) Using insulated gloves (250°F isn't cold to the touch), pry open the housing. Avoid getting any of the glue on the reflectors or the clear lens! Be careful on this part because once the glue cools, the housing will seal up again... which means you have to rebake the housing again.
*OPTIONAL STEP: Paint the inside of the housing. This is purely for looks and is not necessary.*
5.) Set the Angel Eyes (AE's for short) where you would want them and hold them in place with painters tape.
6.) Fish the wiring through any available hole so it is outside of the housing (on the back). For a clean and flush look, you MAY need to drill small holes to fish the wiring.
7.) Affix the AE's in place using the silicon glue (supplied with the AE's).
8.) Close up the housing (tabs and all) and BAKE THE HOUSING AGAIN for 20 minutes.
9.) Remove the housing and place clamps around the entire housing to hold it shut. Let the glue cool and harden, providing you with a nice seal. You can also use vice grips or weights, anything that will push the lens against the housing.
10.) Reinstall your headlight housing and connect the AE's wiring to the ballast (also supplied), then splice them into any 12v source.
That's pretty much it. It's up to you to decide which 12v source to splice the AE's into. AAC suggests your city lights so you can turn them on and off with no issues. I would prefer to have them always on as DRL replacements, so I would splice them into my low beam harness or onto a separate 9006 cable so it's plug and play. If you do use them as DRLs, make sure you solder a 2000uF (or higher) 25v polarized electrolytic capacitor (try saying that 5 times fast) BEFORE the AE's so the AE's get constant power because our DRL function is bad for ballasts.
Thanks again to afeudale for the capacitor fix.
