you shouldn't even have to disconnect your brake lines. all that is needed is that you pull off your brake fluid cap. if you are careful like me go to your local grocery store and get a turkey baster.(i use one of these instead of having to buy the brake fluid pump. it onl costs like $3 instead of 10-15 like the brake fluid pump.) you can use this to suck a lot of fluid out of the reservoir that way you don't get overflow when you press your calipers back in.
anyways, i just did a front and back brake job on my RS and all i did was remove my brake fluid cap and pressed the brakes in, no bleeding needed. plus i only have from calipers. my back are drums.

well to paint those you will have to either pull them off or do some very precise taping off for them. my recommendation would be bite the bullet and take them off and pull your caliper apart, pull the cylinder out, pull the rubber seal off, and pull the bleed screw out. clean it very very good, then stuff a rag in the cylinder hole and stuff a piece of plastic grocery bag in your bleed screw hole.
then paint away. if the paint is ceramic paint, which is the stuff i used you can cure the paint quickly by turning your oven on to 170 degrees and then putting the calipers in there for an hour. after they cool back down you are good to put your calipers on your car. time to do it all should be about 6 hours for all 4 calipers removed, painted, and replaced. then bleeding the system is the same way as most cars. do the furthest one away from the reservoir and work to the closest one.
i know that a lot of people may tell you to use the 2 part compound paint for painting your calipers, but that stuff takes forever to cure and it costs way more than what you need to spend. the ceramic caliper paint i got was from autozone and it turned out pretty dang nice if i don't say so myself. i only painted my drums so far, but it looks way good.

well cure times for ceramic paint without curing from external heat tends to be around 6 hours or so. i wouldn't put them back on until they are cured. just my opinion though!

QUOTE(unforgivenlife86 @ Jun 9 2008, 07:35 AM) on a 2003 Eclipse Spyder Gts, im looking forward to changing my front and rear brakes and the rotors, i know i used a C-clamp on other cars to change the front, is it the same on the eclipse? and is there a special tool to change the rear brakes? i know on some cars you need a special tool to compress the pistons on the caliper. The pistons that need special tools have a piston that looks as if it has two raised edges instead of one flush edge. those types of rotors suck to compress. The tools for it is a set that can be expensive. I dont know if craftsmen has one but I know that Matco, Mac, and Snap-on all have them.
