Hello all

I have a 05 gallant GTS (fewer than 40K miles). On the way home today I had rough idling which resulted in engine stall while stopping. I have not had a problem with this car before. Of interest when I started the car I saw the “TCL off” light on and couldn’t turn TCL back on. I thought this was odd. Later the 'service engine soon' turned on. After that, at the 1st stop at a toll booth I started having the idling problem.

When I got to my garage the fumes were so bad I could not stay in there for more than a few minutes and there was a whisper of black smoke coming out of the tailpipe. I took it to autozone who pulled a P0101 code from the computer. This seems to indicate either a MAF or a MAP (BARO) sensor problem. Researching I see what a MAF is (and where it is on my car). I know I can replace that. But I am uncertain what and where a MAP/BARO sensor is.

I want to be sure I am buying the right part. If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it since once I install the MAF sensor it cannot be replaced and I intend on doing that tomorrow. Am I on the right track?
