QUOTE(Aleph @ Jun 11 2008, 07:40 PM) She. :D And actually I think they are side vents to cool the engine compartment, after a bit more research. I thought they were purely for looks because I could have sworn I saw an Evo without them. The link is similar, but not quite. What's on the link looks good, but it's a little too flashy. I'm going for a European sports sedan look with the modifactions I'm having made, not a racing look. Subtle difference. First off... they are for looks. You can actually build an Evo X on Mitsu's website without them. It's just that the dealerships want you to pay as much as possible for the car, so they slap them on there. Secondly, it's a japanese car... so good luck on the European look. On second thought, I take that back. The front of the Lancer looks a lot like some Volvo's...

QUOTE(Aleph @ Jun 12 2008, 02:31 AM) I think the Lancer looks very European. It reminds me a lot of a Volvo or a BMW. So those strips *are* for looks... I wonder how I go about getting one! Find a crashed Evo in a junk yard? I CALL DIBS ON THE PROJECTORS! But seriously, all insurance agencies scrap crashed vehicles for their parts and sell what they can so they don't lose money... so good luck finding anything intact enough to actually use.

QUOTE(Aleph @ Jun 9 2008, 11:35 PM) Those black strips that are behind the front wheels on the Evolution.. I like how those look on the car. Any idea where to buy them? I'd search myself but... I don't know what they're called! You mean canards?? Here are some universal carbon fiber ones by APR... Set A: http://www.autocarparts.com/part/1483/0/Set B: http://www.autocarparts.com/part/1483/1/Hope this helps

Find a crashed Evo in a junk yard? It's not just for looks, it produces a down force onto your car if you guys are talking about canards :S

I think he's referring to the side fender vents. Thats the black vertical vent on the fender behind the wheel. I attached a shot of what I'm talking about. Cant too well from that pic but I think those are just some stick on vents. Might just be a faux-vent, in which case it serves only a cosmetic purpose. If you were to actually cut out a hole the size of the vent in the fender and mount the fender vents over that hole, then you would have functional vents. Assuming that the vents are actual vents too and not just a solid piece of plastic. Anyway, the purpose of the fender vents is to allow the air that goes in through the front bumper vents to travel through and out the fenders. This lets you streamline and be more aerodynamic. It also helps cool your engine and brakes. IMO, you can always use more vents to help cool your engine. Now that Evo could use some fender strakes haha Attached thumbnail(s)
