The problem: all the sudden i get this high pitched turbo noise here is the best description i can give.
at about 20 km/h i hear the normal turbo sound, then at about 30-60km/h i hear this very high pitched turbo sound/scream-like (imagine the sound you get when a lot of air is being blown into a tiny hole) then at 60km/h it stops. This ONLY happens as i accelerate(give it gas) i don't get it beyond 60km/h and i only feel about 5 hp difference(weaker)

I started having this noise after my friend revved the car up to 7 rpms in neutral
Basically I hear normal turbo noise then at 30 i get the high pitched sounds and the normal noise at the same time ( they don't separate)
I don't believe that this is turbo failure but i do believe it's an air leak because my car has only 97k on it and i never abused it, never heard of many turbos being screwed below 130-150k, i also know that i have a dented in turbo intercooler which im going to replace.


so i talk to my mechanic and he says it's a start of a turbo failure.( bearing )

You might be leaking boost somewhere. I know a couple of guys who had SRT-4's that did the same thing. It ended up being a leak in the piping.

how do i troubleshoot this ? find the leak?
I checked a few hoses for cracks already

by the way i don't feel any hp loss (maybe 5 hp loss) does this cancel out the boost leak?

no.

you need a intake pressure tester and an air pump or bicycle pump.

3sx.com sells the intake tester.

Once its pressurized you just look for leaks
