QUOTE(silver03GS @ Jun 14 2008, 01:54 AM) It's true. The GT's sound all big and bad but at the end of the day it's just a V6. The 1g/2g turbos are so much better and have so much more potential. just a V6, a pretty weak V6. i don't know of many V6 cars that are as slow as the eclipse. i mean yeah the car looks nice, and yeah they might sound nice. however, for all the hubbub you get put put ppttt!. not a whole lot of go! eclipse V6 all show and no go. its a sad fact, but still a fact!

QUOTE(Linkin @ Jun 20 2008, 05:56 AM) A naturally aspirated 3 liter v6 at 205 horsepower isn't terribly weak for the size, it's the cars weight that kills it oh come on man! you can't blame it on the weight. even though she does have a fat ***. i had a 3.4L V6 with auto trans in a mid-size sedan with only 170 HP with 210 torque. it spanked the 3G eclipse GT's both the manual and automatic versions. heavy or not. its pretty bad when a 4 door Oldsmobile goes screamin past you and you can't catch up.

QUOTE(Linkin @ Jun 20 2008, 12:46 PM) So you're trying to tell me that a heavier car with less power, only slightly more torque and an automatic transmission for some reason or another beats eclipses. That goes against everything I understand about cars. LOL yes its not what i'm trying to tell you, its what i'm telling you. i mean if you think that a 205HP car will automatically beat a 170 HP car, then you might want to study transmissions a little more. HP and weight are not the only factors, a different tuned transmission can easily add acceleration and top speed. its ok, modifying is a process that you will come to find out. it takes experience to learn everything. because of the prices involved for trans mods most people never really think about the transmission because hardly anybody talks about them. take a stock camaro, and pit it up against another camaro of the same year and trim with a tuned racing transmission. 1/4 mile, who do you think is going to win? same cars, same weight, same HP, one just has the final drive gear tuned for acceleration, while the height of the transmitting gears is raised.

this i do know, but once you get to a point and you have no other options. its the 5-10 grand for tranny upgrading that you have to turn to.
linkin the reason i mentioned transmissions is because different car companies use different tunes for each model they have. the transmissions on the oldsmobile is setup completely different. trust me the car is pretty fast for such a low HP.

Sorr man but I smell BS I will spank that olds auto with my 5spd GTS. No problem. It comes down to the driver. Even with my 160 hp mazda I'd beat that olds auto. Sorry, but theres a big difference when you row your own... even if it is a boat
