Hello, following your email I contacted Mitsubishi thmselves, and this is their reply:-
"Bio diesel - Fuel resources such as Rape Methyl Ester (RME) and Soybean Methyl Ester (SOME), collectively known as Fatty Acid Methyl Esters (FAME), are being used as alternatives and supplements for mineral oil derived fuels. The use of these fuels in unmodified vehicles causes softening of seals and possible fuel leaks. Damage caused as a result of using Bio diesel that does not satisfy the following conditions is not covered by Mitsubishi warranty: - Amount of FAME must be below 5vol% - Quality of FAME must conform to EN14214 - Quality of diesel fuel after blending FAME must conform to EN590"
Or in other words we're limited to what is sold at the pump, which I understand can include up to 5% anyway.
Not a very helpful response perhaps, but at least now we know the official position.
Perhaps if someone out there has actually run a Mitsubishi/Renault diesel engine on bio diesel for a period of time they could reply to us?
