Ive noticed it on a few i have worked on , and have replaced it. Wut is happening is that the TPS is defective and while at idle most times it is "open loop" meaning that the signal its sending to the ecu about where the throttle position is is fluctuating or non exisiting at idle. The Mass Air Flow meter is aiding most of it and properly gauging the engine about how much stream of air is going into the engine to which the engine is calculating most of the fuel injection spray, which is why at most reason yur car isnt running really irratic. But i have on most 98 up models i have serviced for this issue that the TPS has to be serviced with teh complete throttle body on the GDi models. Unlike older models which had (2) 8MM retaining bolts that held the Throttle position sensor to the throttle body unit , but on this unit ive seen there are cap screws , or break away screws, when screwed into factory position teh screws used the head of the screw breaks off , as for others to not alter the position of the throttle position sensor.
