So as most of you know i put some plugs and wires and stuff on my 3000GT this past winter and when i fired her back up she knocked. I don't know what the problem is but it's still doing the same thing. I just replaced the coil and STILL knocks. I replaced the plugs 3 times and the wires twice. STILL knocks. I narrowed it down to the #1 cylinder. And i don't see it being any moving parts at all because it doesn't make a noise when it's turning over. And all the spun bearing videos and stuff like that i've watched the cars make noise during startup.

^^ thats a video of the car knocking..lemme know what you think it could be.

Yeah i did..thats one of the first things i took a look at. I checked a bunch of little things. My next step is to do a compression test on the number 1 cylinder to see what the values are...if it's low my guess is the Valve has something under it thats keeping it from going down..which would explain the dead cylinder...moist spark plug and hot upper intake do to exhaust firing back through it..

You and i both have no idea. If this compression test doesn't help me out then i'm COMPLETELY lost. I'll just end up taking it to a dealership and spend $30,000 to have them fix it.... Thats where i'm at right now.

have you checked the roller rockers on that cylinder one of them could have popped off so the valve would not be opening creating a miss fire type symptom

Yeah. I took spark away from all cylinders and cranked it over with the valve cover off hoping to see something out of whack. Everything was perfect. So the only other thing i can think of is it being a jammed open valve

Well.....it turns out that the the reason #1 cylinder is dead is because #1 cylinder is blown... Sleeve is cracked..piston is cracked...chamber for #1 is punched in and valves are all stuck open. I need a new motor...the end :crying:

Ironically i'm going to school for Automotive Technology and High Performance Power Trains. So once i'm at school i get parts at cost and all free labor(obviously) with snap-on tools. an AWD dyno and all the best help i can ask for.
