QUOTE(stangmac8183 @ Jun 13 2008, 04:12 PM) ket. the oil pan gasket was in bad shape it was over torqued by 50lbs. What...? There is no way any of the bolts on an oil pan will even begin to hold 50ft/lbs. They are to be torqued to 7 they break at about 9. An 8 month old can break these bolts with their gummed over teeth. If you mechanic said that you need to find a new one.

:57: If it is the rear main seal and you don't feel like pulling the engine out to fix it, you have a few optiojns.
A. Ignore it, get oil all over your driveway, and add oil every few weeks.
Or...
B. Create a makeshift engine diaper (or buy one), set it up under your engine, change it every week, and add oil every few weeks.
I chose option B :57:

QUOTE(EMC 3000gt @ Jun 15 2008, 10:40 PM) You don't have to pull the motor to fix it. drop the transmission, cut old seal out. Lube new seal hammer it in put transmission back on. I'm guessing that removing the transmission is most of the way there in replacing the clutch? I imagine rear seal replacement would be a given. (Some on this board seem to consider it a big job, no experience myself!)
