have a check of the gear linkage cables, if its not them it could be the selector detent springs which are located of the front of the end casing of the g/box, its a small alloy casting held on by 2 10mm bolts, if you decide to take it off be AWARE! there are 3 springs and 3 small ball bearing inside, just undo it carefully, once the springs are removed use a a small magnetic screw driver to remove the ball bearings, check the springs and bb's to see if they are OK, do not move the shifter when they are off, when putting it back you will have to make a new gasket from some thin card as it will leak g/box oil if you dont!
