yeah i have a 420a i don't know what the engine is of the 1G all i know is it is a 92

because a new one for my car is 120 and there is one on craigslist for sale that is only 20 but the guy sez its off a g1

Did you check Ebay. I'm sure you can find one for the 2G 420A Engine.

I'm 99% sure that they aren't compatible.

ok im just going bail on that deal then becuse im not sure about it. ill just be better of buying a brand new one.

Actually, I believe there is a core charge on those things, so you should only expect to pay about $40-$65 if you return the old one. Unless you don't have an old one...
