Hi All

Considering buying an old Delica 1600 pickup, very cheap but a bit smoky. Is it possible to replace the piston rings with the engine in the vehicle? In other words, is there enough sump clearance to disconnect the big ends?

I've done this on a 1800 BMC "B" series engine in a Marina, but the sump was completely unobstructed on those, its a push-rod engine, and its a long time ago.

Can you still get "ridge-dodging" top rings? (As I recall, these were rebated at the top to avoid clouting the wear ridge and breaking)
