Okay first off I have a 2000 Eclipse GT 5-spd and I have a few areas that I could use some suggestions for.

1 - I seem to have either a problem with a slipping clutch or I just got an added bit of torque (doubtful) because when I shift gears and then hit the gas even a little bit, it has to rev up a tad (about 1000 RPM) and then it seems to catch the gear and accelerate. Slipping clutch or added torque? You be the judge.

2 - I just raced a 300ZX Turbo for fun earlier tonight and got shamed because I didnt recognize that he had a turbo. Any suggestions for brands, etc. and cost estimates for a good quality turbo kit would be appreciated.

Thanks :gunsmilie:

sorry but you got to replace that clutch my man. no extra torque. and as a rule of thumb when i replace something that has been broken on my car i always use after market parts unless there is no potential gaining for the part. price a stage 1 or 2 clutch for the replacement. F-1 makes a inexpensive one, while your at it you might want to look at light weight flywheels.

turbo kit, thats a funny one. are you actually going to do it? or is it just wishful thinking? if you are, i suggest you read the pinned post on the top of our forum listed as "upgrade options for the 3G."

also remember to search for previous posts before you ask about already covered topics. this has already been covered so many times over and over again and no one ever really does it.

i'm sure one of the moderators will help you with the brand makers of the turbo kit for your car. the pinned topic up top also has a list of them.

Ripp Mods makes a good super and I believe turbo kit for your car. But before you even think about doin that to your car, you have to do a serious overhaul on alot of your internals. And the pistons are the first things that have to go, plus you have to get a new intake manifold, trust me it's not worth it, you should have gotten the 4cyl version, alot less stuff to hassle with in order to go with a forced induction setup and they have alot more potential.

And second you just have a bad clutch that needs to be replaced.

It's an Eclipse and will be slow. Accept that and enjoy it for what its worth. If you think it's smart to spend roughly 10k to install a custom turbo setup or install a supercharger from RippMods (along with other supporting mods) just to keep up with a car out of your league (which you shouldn't be racing on the street anyhow) then by all means, go for it.

Why not just buy a 300zx with the 10 grand, beautiful car.

Why not blow your self by having 2 ribs removed for ten grand.

Thats what I would do if my only other choice was to make my 3rd gen eclipse a 14 second car.

If your car is cool enough you could probably just find a hood rat to do it for you

I'm just saying its a dumb Idea about as dumb as the one I suggested.

Steve, how many miles have you driven this year in your eclipse? If you had to drive it any more would you still have that supercharger installed?
