ahsonpasha:
Have a few problems with the GTO need the Multi Use Tester.
Anyone know where to get one from??

EMC 3000gt:
Just about any auto parts store will have one. However, you will not be able to read the special Mitsubishi codes. But for the most part you will be fine.

ahsonpasha:
Thanks for that....
you really know your stuff.... nice one.

when you say special Mitsubishi codes, are they different from the ones in the workshop manual?

will the auto parts shop have the same one recommended by the workshop manual or a general one?

would you please suggest one to me please?

and also please check this one out, would this do me fine?

Many thanks.

EMC 3000gt:
A regular scanner will tell you 99% of what you need to know. The MUT scanner will tell you things about your Active suspension and mitsubishi specific things like that.

I use the Hand Held Halo program to scan my car and it is also a data logger for tuning.

As far as the active suspension.

It has three components:

The computer - located in the hatch, passenger side
The caps on top of each strut. Under the covers that say "Keep off hands"
The switch in the dash.

I would start with the caps

Make sure you have a torque wrench:

Remove the bolts pull the connector up and make sure the wires are not damaged. Repeat for all four.

Then I'd swap out the computer. Its located in the hatch on the passenger side behind a plastic panel. You will have to remove the tray to gain access to the lower screw.

The switch. These usually don't go.

It is 45 FT/LBS for the three bolts.

Hi EMC

Checked all 4 struts, the wires are intact. but something more strange is happening now.

I start the car
I can hear the suspension intializing.
and after 2 - 5 mins the lights start flashing. but sometimes...
TOUR comes on and i can change it to Sports
but as soon as sports is selected, it goes flashing.

and sometimes both TOUR SPORT stays on constant...and i can hear the struts trying to do something....

confused at this point now......

did you check the wires on the front struts individually, as the slightest break will make this happen, they are very small looms, you have to remove all insulation wrapping to make the check correctly, the fronts are usually the one to break as they are leaned on when working on the engine also the engine heat makes them go brittle, when the lights flash the ECS defaults to sport mode.

Yeah horrible design on Mitsubishi's part. Once yo have this figured out go to a home improvement store and get PVC end caps and put those under the cover.

Get new caps. I won't have time to get to a yard this weekend but I might be able to find you set and you just pay what it costs me to get them to you.
