my car is cutting out and im pretty sure its a ground cause i have a check engine light and when it jerks it clears the code. i checked the engine block ground and its good i was wondering if you guys know where the other grounds are located and im thinking about ordering a aftermarket grouding kit to see if it helps.

when does it cut out? during high RPM and heavy throttle? can you reproduce it or it just does it everyonce and a while?

well there is two kinds of cutting out. when it is idleing it cuts out at random kinda like a misfire but it doesnt kill the car and the check engine code stays on. the other time it cuts out is when im driving down the road and it doesnt matter the speed it does it whenever it will cut out hard and it will clear the engine code. and if im not moving and it does the hard cut out the car will just die. i have brand new plugs and wires by the way and it did this same thing before i changed them

I had this same problem on my 420a car before I rebuilt it.

spin your crankshaft by hand in a clockwise direction while keeping and eye on your cam gears. check to see if they will line up together. I'm guessing that your exhaust skipped 1 tooth forward.

which makes pwee's diagnoses even more probable. the 420a engine is known for skipping a tooth when installing/reinstalling a timing belt.. its quite the pain in the ****... your mechanic probably didn't notice it when he was reassembling the engine.

the more i think about it the more im pretty sure that its not a cam tooth. it cuts out at ramdom spots and sometimes when its idleing it is smooth and if it was a cam tooth off it would be constant. i am pretty sure its something electrical

not true, it would cut out randomly. Mine usually did it on the highway once about every 3 or 10-20 miles and some days not at all.

also check your MAP sensor for broken wires, torn o-ring/bad seal or bad signal

^ ah ****! well i figured out the cutting out that clears my engine code. it was my terminals, i had new ones but they were the ones that were painted black and red so the paint was interfearing with the connection so i got some brass ones and that fixed that problem. i just gotta get the other one figured out

Advance auto has 9 to choose from for anywhere between $62.50 - $290. rockauto.com has 4 listed for anywhere between $43 - $220. I dont know what the differences between the lower priced ones and the higher priced ones are because they don't give very many details but there it is. From the looks of it those prices are for 1.
