Hello, I am new to the forums so if this is a repeat, sorry. I just bought a 95 Mirage with 1.8l automatic and having a bad time with it. When I first got the car, the transmission was toast in it. I replaced the trans, flushed the cooler and now the car was stuck in limp mode(felt like it was stuck in second gear) and it had reverse. So I got a computer for it, swapped it out and still same thing. So I figure the trans I got was bad, so I just put another one in it and still the same thing? I am baffled at this point any help would be appreciated.

Yu need to CHECK THE FUSE IN THE FUSE PANEL!!! There is a fuse for the ECU. The car does not have as "limp home mode" or fail safe etc. The valve body in teh tranny just is designed for 3rd gear pressure and reverse when there solenoids in the transmission arent being controlled and sent power to by teh TCM. There is a fuse for the transmission control module in the inside fuse panel , it will say (4AT) this is teh fuse for the transmission control module , check see if its burnt , if there is not one in teh slot put one in . Also , since yuve replaced the transmission there is an important note , there are 2 square plug ins for teh transmission that will plug in to either or , But i have seen people mix them up when replacing teh transmission on these models. They are both square 4 wire , one is for the shift solenoids , and the other is for the input shaft and output shaft speed sensor . If the fuse is okies check these plug ins.

Ok, I checked the fuse, fuse is good and getting power. I also checked the square plugs, swapped them around and still same thing. I went and drove it around the block a couple of times and now it feels like the thing is slipping. Fluid is full.
Wish I bought a 5psd! LOL

If the plugs are switched , it can damage the ECU , yu see one woks for the magnetic hall affect input and output sensors of the transmission , if yu have it plugged into the plug for the solenoids and vice versa , it will be sending a voltage signal back feedng the ecu thru the input shaft speed sensor etc. , Feels like slipping? How much fluid was put in? Is it starting in low gear? 1st? or seems like sumthing higher than that like 3rd? Those trannies take about 4 quarts.
