I have a 98 Chariot Grandis Super Exceed 2.4 GDI.

On Sunday 15.06.08 I got a call from the wife telling me that the car would not start, upon inspection I found that the battery was flat. Got some one to give me a jump start and drove the car home.

The battery was taken out put on test, and found to have a faulty cell.

I a new battery was pu in the car after 2 days and it started normally.

I now have several problems that I need to sort.

Problems are:

1: the key fob no longer works the central locking even when I put the key in the lock and do it manually the central locking doesnt work, I have also tried sitting in the car and tried to lock the doors manually but when I do it to the drivers door it unlocks all the doors

2: my MMCS screen is black I can hear power from the speakers when I turn it on but nothing else.

3: I cannot insert a CD into the unit under the drivers seat as it is switched off.

4: the rear brake/lights have stopped working (althought the highlevel brake lights work).

I have checked all the fuses in the box in the engine bay and the ones under the stering wheel but none of them seem to have blown.

Any ideas or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I would like to reset the ECU (Engine Control Unit) first by disconnecting the earth battery lead for at least 8 hours. A good time to disconnect is in the evening and reconnects in the morning. ECU is a mini computer to control not only the engine but distribute all voltage to different motors and sensors, I hope resetting sort the problem but if not then go for computer diagnostic test from main dealer. Normally test generates the codes to indicate the fault.

Good Luck
