I finally found a VR4 thats for sale that i like and need some opinions to see if its worth the price. Its a 95 VR4 black with a 6spd. Its has 100k miles on it and everything is in perfect condition. They are asking $7000, but I might be able to get them a little lower. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks

Ask about the normal stuff like:

When was the timing belt and timing tensioner replaced,
Was the water pump replaces as well?

Regular oil changes?

Rear transfer case recall done?

Is it leaking oil?

Hows the brakes? Tires?

We sold a 92 VR4 with 80k in good body condition but horrible interior for 8,000 so that price checks out.

As far as I know everything was changed at 80k. I don't know about the recalled stuff though. Tires and brakes are at 50%.

Yeah, I will try and talk him down some. If something major breaks I should be fine. I didn't somehow come up with $7000 in like a week. Payday helped too. And selling my SL. Guess I was one of those people that wanted the twin turbo, then decided to do a conversion, then just decided to sell and buy a VR4.

And do you know if the 95s have a 5spd or a 6spd? I haven't gone to look at the car yet and everything about the car says two different things lol. And is the 6spd any better?

6 speeds have been known to get awesome gas mileage on the highway if you stay out of boost.

People have reported 26 at 90mph

yeah, thats what the dearship told me. Is there any major damage to the car? I know not to ever shift a car into first until its stopped or really close and I know ever do it on AWD. Do you think the first gear is going to go out soon?

ok, I just looked at 92 vr4 and I have a question about it. The guy wants $6000 and theres something up with the clutch. The clutch only comes up about an inch or two from the floor. It disengadeds but only moves a little bit. I didn't know if there was anything wrong with that or not. I just know my 92 SL didn't feel like that. O and it had a little poof of smoke right as I pulled away, small and only once. My wife saw me drive away and said so. And there was a little bit of fresh oil right by the oil cap, is that normal? and it only has 80K miles on it.

Thanks

That is not normal for the clutch. I am in the process of changing my clutch to a stage 2 and the stock clutch should move to floor, and back up very easily. With my old 94 sl the clutch did that just before it went out completely. When you drove it did you smell anything like a roasted cluch, did it slip at al in the higher gears? After I test drove my new one that I got two weeks ago today(YAY) I opened the hood after taking it out and I could smell that the clutch was going to go soon. Just be on the lokout for this kind of situation.

I think he said it goes to the floor but the whole stroke is very short. This would be ok if its normal.

yeah the stroke of the clutch is really really short and is all the way to the floor. And you are right, it kind of wants to pop in and out of every gear. I had a honda prelude that did this same thing, at first is was no clutch fluid and then it was the clutch master and slave cylinder going out.

So do you think I should offer him like $5000 for the car? He wants $6000.

Can you afford a new clutch and install with a flywheel resurface?

Yeah, I make good money. It only took me 2 weeks to come up with the $6000 for the car. How much do you think it would all cost to redo the clutch?
