Well this happened the other day on the way home from work. It has been barely turning over ever since i got it back from the transmission shop and i need to go talk to them about it. but this is the problem. I was halfway home and when i began to start from a stoplight the engine was bogging and the car accelerated extremely slowwwwww. i got home and left it there. came out about an hour later and revved it a few times. it seemed to clear out so i took it around the block, it drove normal but the check engine light was still on. it drove all fine the next day and the check engine light went away about mid day, and then today on the way home from work again, i started it and right when it started it bogged. it bogged all the way home accelerating extremely slow again. I have no idea what the problem is, any help? It is a 2002 eclipse gs, no after market mods. The only thing different is a new clutch installed in january, and the transmission rebuild that happened a week ago that seemed to trigger the problems of the car not wanting to turn over and the bogging. can anyone help?

check your wiring harness on your mass air flow sensor. make sure it is plugged in all the way. if this is not the problem check to make sure your air scoop doesn't have anything sucked into it. pop open your air box and make sure your air filter is clean. if your check engine light comes back on run to the nearest autozone and have them run a scan tool check to see what code your ecu is tossing.

also check the wiring connection on your ignition failure sensor. it may grounded out and is slowly frying your harness. its connected to a plug that sits on top of your intake manifold on the front left side.

test these things first then report back here whether you fixed the problem or not.

did everything you stated and nothing, today when i started it it didnt bog at all and i drove it around a block or two and it was running in prestige condition. i went home to lock the house up so i could run to autozone and then when i started it, it bogged, this time horribly, it smells like burning rubber under the hood but the belts are all ok. outside of the car it smells like gas. does this help anymore? i am idling at like 400, and my engine is SHAKING, SHAKING the car, and shaking hard when you look under the hood

maybe adjust your idle by adjusting the crew on your throttle body. right tighty will adjust it down left loosey will adjust it up.

burning rubber suggests a electrical problem, especially if you smell it inside the cabin.

try to figure out the problem if its not throwing a check engine light code. if the check engine light is on. go to autozone and have them scan the code, they will give you a check list of possible problems to test.

if not your looking at a problem you will need to have a shop look at.

emission controls problems should throw a code, electrical problems might not. if you take it to a shop find out if its a electrical problem. if it is take it to a electrical specific shop. it will cost you less to do so, even if another shop finds the problem.
