wow that is worse than mine.
I was going to post a story today that involved my Sable. I took it to sears for an oil change because i'm not allowed to work on vehicles in the parking lot of my apartment complex and I asked them to check the front end cause I was getting a noise. I was thinking it was a ball joint and a heat shield rattle or something
The "mechanic" comes out and tells me: 1. I have a broken spring in the rear (very common for these vehicles) 2. My coolant is low and could be causing detonation and that might be the rattle noise i'm hearing,,,hmmmm I just put a new overflow tank on it 3. the front end is tight
So I ask him to show me. He shows me the spring, yea, its broken but I didn't doubt this one. Then I look at the overflow tank. it's 1/8 inch below the minimum line....detonation caused by over heating,,I think not. Then I ask him to lift it a little higher and smack the front cat with my hand, sure enough the heat shield is about to fall off. So I tell him to drop it down I just want to pay for the oil change and leave. I'm still curious about the loose sound so I pop the hood and bounce the car. Bad strut mount.
So basically all of those problems were actually caused because my coolant was 1/8 of an inch low and my engine was detonating  id!ots
