ok so im pretty stupid when it comes to cars, but im working on that. ive owned a 2003 mitsubishi eclipse gs for a while now, and since im still in high school, its under my father's name as ownership. he's lazy and stupid, and thinks cars never need work done, that they'll just repair themselves. im not however, and i know work needs done. the check engine light has been on for about 4 months, so who knows what that's about. also, when i get above 3.5k rpm's i hear a rattling noise, but it quits at about 5k rpms. im sure it needs several things looked at/replaced/repaired, but like i said, i have no idea where to start. so for now i just want to get it repaired so i dont have to end up buying a new one when this one breaks apart.
also, i want some advice on what you guys think would look sweet on the exterior, like what style of body kit, taillights, headlights, hood w/ or w/out scoop, and anything else worth mentioning
thanks in advance

SC is right, AutoZone or Advanced will tell you what your codes are about for free.

And as far as bodykits and exterior modifications, who cares what other people think look good, if you like the way a certain body kit looks on your car that's all that matters cause you're the one driving it not them so it's not their problem, if you like it go for it.

cool, there's one nearby, ill have it checked as soon as work's over, and thanks for the advice. and i have found two or three body kits, as well as a few other things that i like, so does anyone know of a reliable website that i could order from (the Torque body by VIS) or would it be safer to find a local shop that could order/install? thanks again.

It will have to be fitted, prepped, painted and installed anyhow - and that will be done by a shop.

Where are you located? USA doesn't exactly tell us much.

im in lexington, KY.
there's several places that i think will do all the work, but the body kit is the last thing on my list
1. new speakers
2. CF hood
3. intake/other HP boosts
4. body kit
that's my general listing of how im gonna get this stuff done. anyone nearby who knows of a good place that's reliable?

where in the usa do you live. USA is not a real good location to post on your profile.

if you live in cali come out to Seaside. i will put on everything for the price of a 12 pack of beer.

new speakers, thats easy. i used to be a professional stereo installer.
CF hood, another easy addition. four bolts off and four bolts on and your sittin pretty.
body kit, this it where i would earn the 12 pack of beer. not always easy if mountin brackets need to be fabricated, but it is very doable, especially for me!
