There has been confirmed premature wear and tear on this item, and it appaears that this wear and tear causes an oil leak...

here read this:

http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.ph...2008+RRM+Pulley

and this to get soem general info about the pulley:

http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.ph...2008+RRM+Pulley

I realize I did not answer your question, just wanted to inform that there are issues with both our stock pulley and RRM's

ive had the pulley since last august AND its perfect. Last time i got the car serviced they looked at it and it was fine. No oil dripping or anything. Ive only heard one case of the oil problem. I think you should be fine.

I thought there were two separate cases, but I am too lazy to look right now. IMO the number of cases is not important. The point is that both the RRM pulley and OEM pulley are flawed. While you may not have an oil leak yet, the faster rate at which the RRM pulley wears will eventually cause an oil leak quicker than the OEM one. Keep in mind that the person who got the oil leak had put 25000 km (just over 15,530 mi.) on their RRM pulley. May I ask how much distance you have on your pulley? Also, when you say they looked at and it was fine, did you happen to look at it yourself? I ask this just to see if yours was also developing the groove that everyone else speaks of.

Haha, yes in the above links there are pictures and all. But back on topic... should the original poster take it to a place and have it installed or is it easy enough to do themselves? Since I dont have one and I am not sure of the process of installing it, maybe you can shed some light on what you did Rox.

You need a torque wrench to apply the correct amount of torque on the pulley when you install it. Too much will prevent the pulley from spinning or even grinding (which will lead to premature wear and tear) and too little will result in a loose pulley.

I installed it myself. Without a torque wrench. I haven't had any problems with it so far, and I had it on for a while now.
It was a bit painful to install, but that's because I don't really have proper tools.
It's best to have someone help you. There are just things which need to be held etc.
It also takes a lot of elbow grease to get the thing off and put it back on.
A torque wrench would be ideal for sure to get the bolt secured to spec.
It is totally doable at home though.

There's a V2 of the pulley available on RRM's website now too. According to Rob at RRM, V2 has a hardened steel sleeve for the pulley. It performs just the same as the V1 pulley.

People say that they have felt the biggest difference after the pulley... even bigger than an intake and exhaust. :o

I need to start saving up some more money...

The other solution that the mitsu service department manager mentioned to me is that a sleeve can be purchased and installed on the V1 pulley which would be a cheaper solution than replacing V1 with V2.

Yeah the pulley has a bit of an effect especially in 1st gear. The car also drops RMPs slightly faster with the pulley installed. I think it's worth it.
It's funny when you take out the old pulley and hold them one in each hand how much weight difference there is.

How much would install run? Just curious in case I wouldn't have time to do the install myself.

They will probably charge you for about an hour or hour and a half labor. So depending on the dealer/shop it probably would be 60-120 bucks (roughly) or something like that.
That's why I did it myself considering that install would cost me almost as much as the part itself.

I'm pretty used to having it on now so I don't notice it. But as far as I remember I could feel the difference. Mind you, I'm driving a manual, not sure how it will be with auto/cvt. You might not feel much increase in horse power, but I certainly noticed that the car became a bit more torque'y. I drag race at a track a bit, and often peal out at street lights and the pulley makes a difference. Also when downshifting and flooring it right after comes with more ease to the vehicle.

So yes, one can feel the difference if the car is pushed. It's not a huge difference, but it is in fact there.

I didn't dyno the car after putting the pulley in cause it's not worth the 100 bucks, so I can't give out any numbers. But I would assume there is perhaps a 2hp/torque increase at the wheel maybe (then again I'm not that experienced yet, so my numbers might be quite off).

Ok. So I noticed an oil leak, first thing to pop to my mind is to check the pulley, and guess what? It was leaking.
The groove that is mentioned in the posted link developed in my pulley.
I replaced it with the original and nothing seems to be leaking anymore, so hopefully the seal didn't get messed up and it's going to stay okay like that.

I miss the pulley though, the car feels different now :(
