As for BBSs' comment about an 04 Alero beating an eclipse rs, didn't Aleros come with a 3.1L V6?'

no the Alero came with the GM 3400 series engine. 3.4L V6 its the same engine they tossed in the 95-04 Pontiac Grand AM GT. also i think General Motors have a couple minivans with it as well, but don't quote me on that.

:offtopic:

Oh, and bullet.

The only good small engine GM ever did was the 2.3l HO Quad 4... from the Beretta GTZ/Oldsmobile 442.

Other than that their 4cyl and V6 lineup blows. And the new LS series is wimpy compared to the older LT series V8.

:offtopic:
funny how you mentioned a 442. did you know they made a prototype oldsmobile Alero 442? read this from wikipedia, just scroll down to the variant prototypes section. its almost upsetting how GM phased out the oldsmobile company when they could have built a 442 Alero. all of these prototype cars were awesome in my opinion.

Ok sorry my mistake. the 3.4 just makes it that much more of a mismatched race.

except for the 3100, 3400, and 3800 all being terrible engines that have no business being on the road.

GS man, dont listen to anyone who says mustang. Its garbage, it goes around corners like a cow. Plus, the GS IS faster than that 3.8 Liter V6 with 17 Horsepowers, do remember that the V6 mustang is a Ford engine, enough said about it. With the mitsubishi, better looking, faster because its about a million pounds lighter than the Mustang. The only thing about it, is that its annoying sometimes, as any other Japanese car. Plus, Mustang are always WORTH less. so if they're asking same price, mitsu.

sorry man, i thought we were going to try to be objective here? the Alero is about as oldsmobile as a Mitsubishi anything, in the US. is really mitsubishi!

the oldsmobile Alero is basically a Pontiac grand am. translating over to General Motors.

and USA Mitsubishi's excluding the EVO is Dodge, some of which called the joining of Dodge and Mitsubishi back in 89 "Diamond star motors" or DSM.

you can't judge a book by its cover, and you certainly can't judge anything my its label. thats how people keep getting ripped off on E-bay. "this is the real deal electric supercharger, it really works here are some testimonials!"

Anyways getting back on topic here! i think motocross should really just go with what he prefers to drive, not car company names. front wheel or rear wheel. as far as motors go like i have said before. i knew guys With mustangs that had no problems. i have known guys with Eclipses that have had no problems. keep up with the maintenance and you will be fine with any car. if your looking for a car that can take abuse(forgot to change the oil for 2000 extra miles) Eclipse all the way baby. my eclipse has 206,000 miles on it. i actually hit the 206 mark today. it runs like a champ. but if your like i am and take care of any car you get or have. the V6 Mustang is faster than a 3G eclipse GS plain and simple. but i think the ride in a eclipse at high speeds is more smooth than a mustang. eclipse is probably safer at high speeds.

^^^ If you have your heart set on a 3g eclipse or a v6 mustang take them both for a drive. After you do buy the one you feel more comfortable/like driving more.

thats awsome its great to see what everyone had to think about this. since i can see where some people are coming from about theres to manny mustangs on the road already i am definatly going to buy a eclipse. I was looking towards the 4cyl eclipse GS but now im thinking maybe a GT or even GTS if i can find one. i just dont want to have a really slow car but how much of a diffrence in MPG is in GS vs GT ? i need something good on gas. some people say there is only 1mpg and some people claim there is 10mpg diffrence. also do GT models have to run on premium ?

Only premium, comparing my personal mileage to gs owners it's about 1-2 mpg different (25 v 27), and I can't personally vouch that the gt is really all that much faster than a gs having never been in one, personally I don't think it's going to win you many races, but it sounds nice with an intake and a new exhaust

perfect i wont be doing much racing anyways we have ALOT of cops here and they are very strict on racing like if you peel out and some will charge you for it street racing and you can loose your liecens for a year and they crush your car.

so your saying the GT gets 25mpg????
i saw a 2003 GTS on auto trader were these cars basically the same as the GT i searched abit and it seems they are the same with 10hp more.

24.9 was my last calculation, and i drive through the woods, windy roads, hills, stop signs, no city driving, but only about 50 miles of actual highway driving on that tank

Ford is more reliable than mitsubishi...

For instance, 3g Eclipse... been in and out of the shop constantly for a great deal of the past 3 years. Prior to that my 1g had been in the shop and never really had a chance to get out.

Ford Mustang... in the past 3 years an ignition coil went bad.

I don't know much about how the 3gs were rated but my 4g GT was rated at 1mpg different from the GS on both highway and city mileage. I understand that the EPA est. are alway wrong but I figured I would throw that in here. For the first 28k miles or so I was averaging about 26mpg with a mix of highway and city driving. It has since dropped off considerably in the past 2 - 4k miles which I am still trying to figure out what the problem is.
