so I have a problem. My 96' eclipse GST w/ 16 g turbo has been sitting on jeck stands for a while. No spark or fuel. I have fuel pressure but no pulse at the injector. I cant really seem to find anyone who has any idea what this is. Also I think it might have low compression. If this is the case is it worth rebuilding or should i just bail out of it?? I dont really know what to do about this car, I like it but it isnt very reliable. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

im confused about your fuel situation. where is your pressure? if your just not getting any into the cyl. check your injectors if its been sitting for forever (and when I say forever with gas forever is like two months or more) fuel will first dry out and get gukky then it will eventually fully dry out and leave a powdery residue that will clog every god fearing injector in the universe. for you spark issue have you changed plugs, checked/changed wires and figured out where your losing your power with a voltometer?

I have a fuel pressure gauge. There is no electricity at the injectors when you try to crank it over and same at the plugs. there is power at the coil but not at the plugs. I have another question. My car had a funny idle which was the beggining of all this. and I heard that if you disconnect the batt for 20 min that it resets the computer. Is that wrong i am assuming it is because after I did that it wouldn't start.

sounds like your spark plugs or plug wires are bad.

+1 to bonanza. yea it will reset your computer but doing that isn't always the best idea. if your car never started after you did the batter reset open up your computer and if there are black spots... your gonna need a new one. the no spark issue really does sound like plugs and wires tho so you can look at your computer but get new plugs and wires before you go out and buy a comp.

ok well I think I have got it nailed. The coils weren't bad. I am almost positive it's not the the ANTI-THEFT so I am down to crank or cam sensor. Now I have a question about those. First I must be retarded because I can't find the crank sensor and second what a good way to test them. I mean the cam sensor is getting juice but I don't know of a way to test it. Got any suggestions?

is it a 6-bolt swap? crank sensor is behind the timing cover if it's a 7-bolt. if its a 6-bolt then there is no crank sensor.

if you cam and crank sensors both check out your ECU is bad

it is a 4g63 motor. That is a six bolt right? I am not totally sure if it was a swap because I know they made the car in 96 with that motor. I know where the cam sensor is but where is the crank sensor? And just to be clear the ECU is right behind the center console on the right side.

the 4g63 had 2 dif versions the 6 bolt and te 7 bolt. 6 bolt was ONLY made in 90-91 cars. everything after was a 7 bolt

Well I am stumped. I am assuming that that it is the cam sensor or it might be a bad ground. When I touch my test light to one of the wires the fuel pump turns on for a sec

the fuel pump is activated by a few things and one of them is the cam sensor. so by attaching a test light to it you were completing a circuit and activating the fuel pump.

did you ever get the compression checked? you mentioned you thought it might be bad and if it truly is bad then you should worry about that first.

have you tried using a friends ECU?
