I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. I am having problems with the transmission. I was going down the road and the check engine light came on(P1751) and said that i was in neutral. It quit pulling altogether. Got the car home checked all the relays and connections no problems there. Pulled the transmission pan off to check the shift solenoids all ohemed out the same. Any help would be GREAT!!! :crying:

I had the same problem with my 01 eclipse spyder gt, turned out there was alot more wrong with it that couldn't be check by just looking at thr fuses or solenoids, Also when you put it into reverse does it have a jerk? You might need to replace your filter and fluid thats what i did first but it was already to late for me. Good luck Bro..

was there metal on the magnets

try taking off the filter and clean it
and blow it dry with compressed air

the next thing is to disconnect the battery terminals to reset the computer

if the oil is bright red and you have reverse the box should be ok

if not there maybe a torque converter or oil pump problem

replace the box oil with mitsubishi genuine oil

Thanks for the reply. My eclipse has a internal trans filter, not the spin on type. When i put it in any gear it does nothing just like i am i neutral. I have'nt had a issues with the trans at all. it just quit! Checked the fluid it is good. also tried to reset the ECU no luck.

I reset the computer. Fluid is fine, red no smell of anything burnt. I know that the trans fluid is suppose to be Diamond SP III. i bought the car 3 years ago, so if the fluid was the wrong type it would have presented problems earlier than this. The worst part is i am still paying for this car and Mitsubishi parts are high! I don't have any gears at all. Nothing happens when i put it in any of the gears, it stays in neutral. Even when it quit working there wasn't any noises or any thing, it just quit with no warning signs.

rebuild or replace.

great site that makes searching for used parts easy as click click click call on the phone and you found what you need.

http://www.car-part.com

i mean if you want to go with a replacement thats where you should look.
remember, rebuilding a transmission normally costs more than buying a used transmission to replace the bad one.

;)

I got to post in a thread i made about my tranny but
If you had the same problem i had. driving about to hit 4th on the interstar engine high rev and show N then no gears at all

I'm looking at a rebuild, or replace. I'm going to let the guy replace it as my eclipse isnt my everyday car

Oh it was the pump the ring or something it came off and well thats that. I read about this problem on a website.

The tranny guy said was common in this tranny
sucks man
