I noticed on the SE that the door "knobs" (the thing you pull to open the door) is a plain black. I think the GTS has a chrome finish. I was thinking of getting some chrome spray paint and painting it, but would prefer to remove the thing from the door. Or is there some sort of vinyl I can put over with a hairdryer. Has anyone else noticed this?

I have the GTS and yes, it is chrome vinyl. Chrome paint doesn't exactly give you a chrome finish, you'd have to buff it up or something. Not really worth all the work in my opinion.

I say paint them a stainless steel silver look... that would be yummy!

Ahh, never realized that. Figured just spray it, let it dry, clear coat, done.

Any ideas how I can go about removing the thing? It seems covering to protect against overspray is a big hassle, given that I'd have to "sit" in the car while spraying as my doors are attached lol

if you have the RF system you can pop the tweeter off and then there is a handle in the middle of the door, behind that is a pop off thing and a screw under it, there are 2 screw locations total followed by just popping off the door interior. I don;t remember where but there was a DIY for this, ill have to go looking around.

The DIY-scroll down for pics meant for changing speakers but same thing.

Cheers. I don't have the upgraded sound system, so no tweeters.

I'll read over the thread and check it out when I pick up vehicle.

EDIT: I realized if I use a vinyl I don't have to remove anything, since no worry of overspray. Just gotta keep hairdryer not too hot.

I believe there's some CF vinyl as a trim as well?

You have to go to an actual shop and have a professional do it. Look around in the phone book and see if you can find a Tint shop to do this or some sort of Auto shop that does this type of work. If its all 4 doors im sure it wont cost that much for the vinyl, but if they are going to do it themselves on your car it might cost you like $80 for the install w/ vinyl.
