What's up Montero owners?

My 4 y.o. son comes into the house the other day with my rear view mirror in his hands...

"I'm sorry, dad."
Arrrrg!!!

He didnt seem to break it so I unscrewed the 3 screws that the base appeared to be attached to on the roof of the truck. It looked like a very simple fix, but it wasn't. This is not an adhesive job since the mirror isnt attached to the widnshield. It was attached just about the glass, to the roof of the car.

Does anyone know if a Chilton manual / or the likes will have these instructions? I have the original owner's manual that came with the car but thats of NO HELP.

Thanks

I must look at mine to see how it is attached and get back to you.

Had much the same problem with my kids when they were small. I know it is frustrating but you will laugh about these incidents in a few years time. My frinds boy got ahold of a dazzle piant can and decided to coat the dash. Four years later and you can still see the embedded bright oragne colour in the plastic grain including instrument panel.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you on this but I finally had a look and really can't offer much advise to you. The base is mounted to the ceiling of the roof and the mirror looks like it snaps ito a ball & socket arrangement on the pole. If I understand your problem the kids probably just grabed ahold and pulled the mirror from the pole socket. It should just snap back in place with a little persuasion.

Hope that this helps.

Did the arm of the mirror come out of the base?(base being the part that screws to the roof) Or did the screw holes strip out? of did the socket frum the back of the mirror come off of the arm?
