Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the site, and I got ahold of a 99 Eclipse Spyder. We were going to rebuild a 4G63T for it, and drop it in, but I've lost two heads due to the timing belt issue. I was just going to see what you guys thought about it, and if it's not quite feasable, what actions I can take to eliminate the timing issue on the 4G63T. Thanks

Make sure the timing marks are in the right place. Turn the crank by hand 4 times and then double check the timing marks.

On one, the timing belt broke, and then 7 months later, it went again, this time the belt was completely in-tact

Let me just say that if you can't get the timing right on the 4g63 please for the Love of God don't try on a 6G72tt. You will shoot yourself.

Well, the thing that doesn't make sense is that the tensioner, Balance shaft belt and timing belt were all changed in August '07, when the head broke the first time. Then, it broke in April '08, and that was it, the tensioner looked still like new, and everything was just as it was when the head was changed. = \
