well most of you know i have recently been having transmission problems. while talking to my brother in law he was saying i might be able to get a new engine with transmission and everything from japan for cheaper. but i think i want to get a 6 bolt. i have two questions really. first does the 6 bolt drop right in or will i need to make some changes. and where can i get one from. i have a 98 gst. the second question is will the cyclone engine drop in.. all i found were awd ones is that all they made the cyclones in was awd. thanks

I don't believe that it would be cheaper if its even possible.

All the Eclipses were made in America (Normal, Illinois or something I think) and then shipped to other parts of the world. That is why you will never see a right hand drive Eclipse from the factory. I did a search on that business about a month back, actually. So, you should expect to pay less for a new block from the US.

There are plenty of ready to drop in motors to be found on the DSM forums.

so im told that the cyclone will work even with the awd trans. i hear that you can turn the awd trans into a fwd trans. im told that you can take some kind of plate of the fwd trans and bolt it on back of the awd trans to block of where the rear wheel drive drive shaft goes. if that makes any sense it didnt to me so i figured i would ask.

Drives: 1996 Talon AWD. Built, but no longer drives: 1997 mitsubishi eclipse RS; 1990 Talon AWD; 1995 Talon AWD, 1997 Talon AWD. Seems like a pattern

cyclone, yes, with mild mods. AWD can turn into RWD, not FWD.

the only plate I have heard of is a 4g63 to a RWD trans like the turbo 400

Cyclone? The only thing that was cyclone was the intake mani. Nothing else was different.
