Even my 2000 Eclipse GT has the same problem, I have to push it. I showed it to my mechanic he greased it and it did work for a while and he told me that its working right now but in case it stops working again then we have to replace the sunroof motor as it has gone weak.

Asked one of my friend who is with auto zone he told me that the motor is available either from a mitsubishi dealer or from a junk yard.

Thanks,
Gaurav

I asked my mechanic to get a quote for the motor... that **** thing is worth 288$+ taxes. But the dealer told that there is some design problem because of which even changing the motor doesn't help.

So, don't know what to do, may be the only solution is to grease the sunroof everytime we put gas.

go to http://www.car-part.com and call a salvage yard from there. you can get a used one very cheap if you look hard enough. (not that its that hard to find one for a cheap price on there anyways.)

lol. if you look how it opens from the outside you can see that the sunroof tries to push back when its tilting which is retarded because they could of just made it go up instead of back and no one would have this stupid problem...

hey man mitsubishi makes a lot of mistakes, IMO we deal with it so we can have a nice looking car, that can take a lot of mechanical abuse. not because they have no problems. you want a car with minimal overall up keep costs? go buy a camry or a corrola! but fat chance driving around and someone telling you they want your car. those cars don't look even close to as good as an eclipse yo!

My friend just had this taken care of at a Dealership and all it was was out of alignment, so they just popped it back on track and save himself from having to get a new motor. It's another cheaper suggestion.

At the dealership they didn't have to I think it took them all of like 20 minutes to fix the problem or something like that. I'm not sure exactly how you do it cause mine doesn't have a sunroof, but it shouldn't be too hard to do yourself.
